Fedora (or Porkpie)

Last night my friend and I decided to add a few things to his hat. We had been going through his stuff and found a few trinkets that we thought might look nice, after much preparation we got started. We went through his sewing kit, his tools, and found more things you could use to add to the hat.

What you will need:
A hat, (we used a felt fedora (a porkpie))
A few jump rings
A bead or beads that you would like to sew on
Colored thread
A needle
A right angled awl
Pliers

To begin with creating holes where you would like the jump rings with the right angle awl.

Then put the jump rings in, using the pliers. Make sure each jump ring is evenly spaced.

Now double your thread and tie a nice knot on the end, and sew on your bead.

(We had a bit of fun making still lives of the stuff because we both love photography)

And here is the final piece.

Day of the Dead (agave, the tequila goddess)

I know it is not day of the dead yet, but I had this inspiration and I just couldn't wait! Anyone can enjoy this project, but I suggest looking up a few mask imagines from Day of the Dead celebrations. The Day of the Dead is a holiday from Mexico celebrating ancestors that have died. The skull is a symbol of rebirth, used in many hispanic cultures. Although the Day of the Dead is now a catholic holiday, although it comes from a pre-colmbian pagan religion. The day it is celebrated is on the 2nd of November.

What you will need:

An old flower pot
Paints of a variety of flamboyant fiesta colors
Paint brushes
P jar of water to rinse the brushes
A pencil
And an agave plant.

Start by creating a white under coat. Let the under coat dry, as you do so look at pictures of inspirations.

After the paint has dried you can then draw the outlines of what you will be painting on the pot with a pencil (and then if you want go over it with a permanent marker).

Then fill in the outlines with paint, you should use bright, original colors that are clearly celebration colors. Remember this is a celebration of rebirth and the souls that have passed.

When you are done, plant your agave plant in it, but make sure that the soil is the right kind for an agave plant, because it is a cactus, and it does come from a sandy place.

Simple Soup Can Candle Holder! (so pretty...)

This craft is perfect for all ages and can add a bit of twinkling light to a dinner table, a night time picnic, or for mood lighting on your porch.

What you will need:

A soup can of frozen water
A nail
A hammer
and A candle

First decide what kind of pattern you would like for your lantern, then mark it on the can.

Now you should take the nail and hammer it through the metal (it should only take a couple light taps).

If you are using a large can, or are working with children please use a vice, it can be difficult to hammer when the can is on its side.

When you are finished making the holes in the can you can either wait for the ice to melt away or crack it and shake it out. In any event the finished product should look something like this:

A few things to keep in mind:

The inside is sharp!
Candles are a fire hazard, so please keep an eye on it, and make sure children do not play with them.

Hello my pretties! This is a basic tutorial for how to cut glass!

So as of late I have found that there are many, very feminine things that you can make... but I do believe I have something special for you guys too!

Today I will just be sharing with you a short link, this will show you how to cut glass with simple household products. I plan on using this technique later to make things such as glasses for serving iced tea or milk in in the mornings, but I need to accumulate the glass bottles over time.

Dearest fellow Boho-Hipsters,

Today I want to ask of you all a simple question, what do you want to learn to make? I oodles of crafts, but no idea where to start! Should I make a paper lantern, or should I make a candle holder with old photo negatives? Should I show you how to make lip gloss, or to make an amazing bath additive? Should I show you how to make a lamp shade of your old x rays?

...Well you get the picture... So as of now I am at a stand still and do not know what to do next! Please leave a comment with a suggestion, I always have a great appreciation and respect for peoples ideas.

Thank you so much to you all,

Best,

Record Bowl! A Hipster MUST Have!

This project is a great project for kids, adults, and small house warming parties. It is also a must have for any self proclaimed hipster. I fell in love with this project four years ago, and I still love doing it with friends, they also make perfect gifts.

For this project you will need:

A bowl (or assortment of bowls) that are heat proof

A record, it does not matter what kind, but I would rather you use scratched ones because you never know when you might come by an old turn table.

An oven

you can also use:

Old gossip magazines, old nail polish, or anything else you can think of for decoration including paint.

a record and bowl

The first step is to preheat the oven to 300 degrees f. and turn the oven to convect, not bake nor broil, but convect.

Then when the oven is preheated put the bowl in the oven, and place the record on top like so:

Then let the oven melt the record, it will look like it is wobbling around at first, but it is not, the heat is bending the record slightly, so do not fret.

Keep a close eye on the record, it can be very fun to watch. The record should start to slump like this:

This is what the bowl should look like when it is done melting. Take it out and be careful because it is very hot!

This is what the finished product should look like.

also... YOU CAN USED DIFFERENT SIZED BOWLS TO MAKE DIFFERENT SHAPES WITH THE RECORDS!

A FEW TIPS:

let the record cool for about 60 seconds (so it is warm to the touch and slightly pliable), but make sure you use a butter knife or a fork to coax it off of the bowl, sometimes it can lightly stick to the surface.

Also keep a window or two open and a fan going, because this process does create fumes, a cross breeze would be even better. And if you have pets such as, birds, or small creatures that can be very sensitive, take them away from the kitchen area.

I hope you enjoy!

xoxo

Hello,

My idea here is to share some of my simple projects with you, because I do love good DIY projects. For my first project I have decided to share with you today is my new recipe for an amazing hand and body cream!

you will need:

16 oz. baby lotion
8 oz. Vaseline
8 oz. Vitamin E Cream

a few containers that will fit a total of 32 oz.
lavender and rose essential oils

these are the basics of what you will need.

empty containers into a bowl and mix (you can use an electric mixer) until they are combine and the combination resembles something like icing.

Now you can add the oils to your taste, and fold them in.

After the oils are folded in you can put your new lotion in your bottles!

IT WORKS SO WELL!
